Canine Longevity: Learnings from the Dog Aging Project

Canine longevity is a topic that is attracting increasing interest from owners and experts. The Dog Aging Project, also co-founded by Dr. Matt Kaeberlein, our chief scientist and co-founder, is one of the world's largest studies into the aging of dogs and has made a significant contribution to understanding how to improve the health and life expectancy of our four-legged companions.

Dr. Matt recently attended the PetVet veterinary event, where he gave a talk presenting the project and its impact on innovation in veterinary medicine. Below you can see the full content of the lecture.

What is the Dog Aging Project?

The Dog Aging Project is a collaborative study involving more than 53,000 dogs, with the aim of understanding the aging process and proposing interventions to increase canine longevity. The research brings together a multidisciplinary team of more than 100 scientists and veterinarians, analyzing both genetic data and environmental and biological factors.

What makes this project unique is the combination of human and canine aging science, allowing discoveries made with dogs to be applied to human health as well, and vice versa. As dogs age faster, scientists are able to observe changes over time more efficiently.
